I Prefer An Overcast Sky To Standing Eight Hours Straight Today

I had a great morning. My group mates in the ward just could not contain the sudden exhilaration upon hearing that our instructor couldn't make it to the hospital because the left side of her mouth is super-inflamed. I know it's rude to be happy when somebody's in execrable pain. Her condition has gotten pretty worse actually. My instructor has been complaining about this tenderness since last week and then the next time I saw her, one of her cheeks was already of celestial proportions. So yeah that was how badly inflamed her face was. Even she was not sure what caused it. I guess the ailment is idiosyncratic. Or maybe the aliens did it.

Like the events from the highly philosophical The Alchemist, I can only surmise that the whole universe conspired to make this happen, too. Although waking up at four for a 6am duty was never an easy thing for me, ayos na rin. At least I don't have to face another ordeal of standing up for 8 straight hours at the ward. FYI, I never dreamed of becoming a saleslady of SM.

Deciding to have fun first going home to regain the lost beauty sleep, we went to loaf at Baywalk since it's only across the hospital. I love the sunless sky at 7 in the morning. Last night's rain shower even brought in an unusually cold weather in Manila, which is good. As we were nearing the filthy and very oily bay, my group mate asked, "Eto na ba 'yung tinatawag nilang smell of the sea breeze?" I asked myself, if this were the sea breeze, parang amoy ng tahong lang. "Hinde, smell of the wet market 'yan," I teased. Weak, I know. Anyway, we hung out by the edge of Manila Bay. Loads of garbage was floating at the borders -- it was a multi-colored sight. And the smell of the water was more tolerable in the morning than in any other time of the day. I felt nauseous just the same.

For about ten minutes, we just stayed there. And then I had this illuminating discovery that going to this place can relieve a lot of a person's stress, even without a loved one beside him/her, or a cup of warm coffee from Figaro to sip on. It's not about the dark water, nor the foul smell it might bring to the olfactory senses. It's not even about the Korean tourists and others who go jogging down the kilometer-long pavement. I think it's when you stare at the junction where the sea meets the sky, which creates a new dimension to the idea of reaching an impossible goal.

Nye! I haven't any clue why I thought of that. I didn't even have anything for breakfast. I only wish I could put this day back, dahil masarap talaga 'pag walang pasok.

I Had The Worst Day

But even the computer monitor shows empathy toward me. Jaundice, it has. Kid you, I do not.

The awful things that happened, surely you want to know because visited my dreary site, you have. And this annoying Yoda speak, I want to irritate you with. A roster, I give you to understand how sad I have been.

1. A terrible thunderstorm yesterday, there was. Wet clothes and bag, it almost caused me. Enjoy losing pounds at Fitness First in Rob, my Mama was supposed to do at that time. But rubber shoes she forgot to bring. So to meet me instead, she decided. So go home together we could. Blessing to me, it was. Because awful headache the entire afternoon, I was having.

2. 5.30 in the morning, I woke up. Not really late for school, it turned out. But to hurry dressing up anyway, I am obliged. Because go to work on time, my sister has to. Along Sucat Road, vacant seats in FX's there were none. But lucky my sister was, because let her take the first FX with extra seat, I did. But my ride, I waited for another twenty minutes. So ugly varicose veins, I almost developed. How very poor, my legs were. A foot spa, it badly needs.

3. My cell phone, I forgot at home. And a drained battery my wristwatch has. So leave it at home, I did. Poorer than ever, I am. Because on it my life is depended. No sense of time and no Nature Park game to play, I now have.

4. Overwhelmed I am by my subjects. Trouble memorizing drug names, I'm having. Betamethasone, dexamethasone,
methylprednisolone... aaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Tongue twisters they are to me. And the six-hour pediatric subject, I don't really like. Because kids, I don't really understand. Besides, childhood, I did not remember having.

5. Problem, I was having in going home. Call Papa to pick me up at Multinational Village, I was supposed to do. But text Papa from someone's phone I did instead since my cell phone I did not have with me.

6. Out of sight the car of my Papa was when at Multinational Village I arrived. So to a nearby pay phone, I went. Papa could not pick me up, I was told. So cry loudly in front of a security guard of Mister Donut I did. A series of unfortunate events, my day had been. Tired my precious feet were from a long period of walking. So with seventy pesos left from today's allowance, hail a taxicab I dared to do. Anything I would readily give up. To go home. Just to go home. And make this sad, sad post.

Boa noite, a gente.
