I Got All The Time For You, Love

Hello my dear country who Bren terms as free. At 8 in the morning I had to wake up and get out of the bed because I'm bathed with very bright and warm sunlight. There's nothing between me and the sun but a thin curtain that lets about 99 percent of the light in the bedroom. Got to find the Venetian blinds... Asan na ba 'yun...

There's nothing much to talk about myself these days. I'm still fat though I don't whine much about it as this would only cost me too much trouble. The first week of school was hot and humid and I think I became anorexic from walking a hundred miles around the campus. I was a busy person before and during the foundation day which went... well. At least I think it did.

Yesterday I took my first short quiz this semester and I failed it. Funny I can say it's a rather proof of saying that I am not a completely transformed GC this college 'cause if I were, I would have died from voluntary hypoxia because I couldn't take getting a 2 on a 10-item quiz. That subject was sooo dreadful, even if my teacher there's very good and I like her, I am not at all inspired to study ethics and another set of sociological issues. No, not again.

Speaking of issues. Naku ha, ang daming papansin sa mundo. Lagi nalang sarili ang iniisip. You're all weird from thinking that you are entitled to disconnect yourselves from your friends because YOU HAVE ISSUES.

And if you think you're the only ones at liberty to have stupid issues, gagawa rin kami ni Ava, ano. I've got all the time making 'em. Chonger Ava, this is our chance to become histrionic like the others. Muwaaahahaha.

Love In The Time Of Shingles*

Trip mag-Tagalog. Bago ang lahat, I'm pissed off that I can't sleep. Ten o'clock pa lang kagabi, nasa kama na ko, nagbabasa ng book two ng Lord of the Rings. Anung oras na ngayun? 2am na! Grabe, hindi nga ako makapaniwala na wa epek parin si Tolkien sa pagi-induce ng sleep. Ang masasabi ko lang e ibang-iba sya sa pelikula, it's like I'm reading an entirely different story. Kakaiba sya magsulat... madalas nakakapagod basahin, pero worth it naman. Pano ba 'yan, may pasok pa ko mamayang 7a. Kabadtripan. 'Di na siguro ako makakatulog nyan.

Naiinis din ako dahil naaalala ko 'yung Red Cross Basic Leadership Training at Basic Life Support na inattendan ko recently dahil napilitan. Sila 'yung reason kung bakit ako nagka-herpes zoster (shingles). Anu ka ba, hindi 'yan STD. Remember the communicable diseases? Eto 'yung sakit na galing sa chicken pox. Pag natripan ulit ng varicella virus na mag-cause ng pain, it will be in the form of shingles. Pramis, mukha akong kawawa these past few days, ang sakit kasi ng shingles, parang may nagaganap na electrocution sa left leg ko every 15-20 seconds. Kasalanan ng Red Cross kasi sobra ako na-stress. Ang init during sessions, tapos napaka-demanding pa ng mga trainors. As if naman. Tulad nga ng sinabi ko dati, I could have learned CPR and bandaging all in one day and not five. It was definitely a waste of time.

All I Really Need To Know About First Aid I Should Have Learned In One Day

...And not five. That Red Cross thing was all a big joke. I can't believe I let this training steal my time meant for reading books. There are CN students who are having a hard time keeping their excessive fondness to extra-curricular activities to themselves. I get very annoyed when they start to entail a hint of grave consequence if you don't attend the training. "Matter of life and death, kelangan daw 'to bago gumradweyt." Nek-nek! But I was even more annoyed with gullibility which almost always gets hold of me especially on those times when they had something to do with grades. GRADES! It's not that I'm a GC (though now I realize there’s nothing really wrong about being a GC unless one tends to have crab mentality), I just don't want my grades to be messed up on my last year in school.

And so I paid 650php for the never-ending leadership training (this is my fourth time in 6 months!) and basic life support training only to learn from my friends after that we were deceived by the over-acting CN students. Para lang daw may mailagay sa resume! Altogether it's a 7-day, 8a-5p training and I could not believe myself having endured the utter dread and heat in the classroom and at the Red Cross Manila Chapter. It's a good thing my Troma pips were there to obliterate the bad vibes during lecture. Afterward, I'd ask them to have dinner outside and they'd give in without insinuating any form of resistance.

Complaining aside, I'm proud to say that I now know the proper CPR and bandaging. Then again, I still could have learned that in a day.
